The Kehai Clock transforms our relationship to time, named for the Japanese concept of“kehai” (気配), loosely translated as "the presence of something in the vicinity".

The Kehai Clock is an intriguing and deliberately ambiguous embodiment of time, with the hour and minute hands behind a pane of frosted glass. The red dot, marking seconds, slowly and smoothly orbits the face, like the rising and setting of the sun. Mounted on the wall, it silently records and reflects the passage of time, bringing a sense of time's presence but unmoored from its urgency, much like poetry is to prose.

The thin, delicate, yet strong aluminum frame is manufactured by Takata Factory using casting technology.

Designed by Makoto Koizumi, Professor Emeritus at Musashino Art University, winner of the Mainichi Design Award in 2012, and Grand Prize of the Japan Crafts Exhibition in 2015.

"We sometimes find the presence of a clock unpleasant.
And sometimes the existence of time is also unpleasant.
So a slightly ambiguous sign of time is just fine."
